Religion
We are asked to explain and talk about the different landmarks found in Mt. Banahaw.
- The river behind Vincent Giron is said to be the place where people who dip in it get cleansed. It is as if being baptized again, here we are gathered around the river and simultaneously dip ourselves. Belief says that if a person dips in the cold water, his/her personal sins are forgiven.
- This stone marks our adventure towards Mt. Banahaw. This is the place called "The Gates of Heaven". There are two large stones apart from each other resembling gates. From the photo above half of a face is seen, beliefs say that it is the face of Jesus Christ, always there to guide and protect us.
- The Book of Life, these are wide stones located in Mt. Banahaw. These stones represents the book of St. Peter which contains names of those who are to enter heaven, Common beliefs here says that if you write your name on it, you are assured of being in paradise or heaven.
- The photo above shows the Blessed Virgin Mary inside the resting place where we had our lunch after the very tiring path we took inside the Husgado cave. The Husgado cave serves as a challenge for those who want their sins to be forgiven for a span of 7 years. The cave is very narrow making it very hard for us to move through it. The scratches present on our bodies shows how sinful we are, these are what the common belief says there.
- Finally the last station in our adventure at Mt. Banahaw is the Kalbaryo (Calvary). The photo shows crosses on top the mountain, these represents the sacrifice of the people determined to get their sins be forgiven. True devotees bring a rock with them which will serve as a challenge for the them and will then leave it near the cross.
Trigonometry
We were asked by our Trigonometry teacher, Mr. Eric De Guzman, to measure the distance covered beginning from our school (Marist) up to our first stop over. Next is to measure the distance covered from the first stop over up to the site of our outbound trip (Dolores, Quezon). From the site of our outbound trip up to the place of our second stop over on the way home, and lastly from there up until we get back to our school.
Marist School to first stop over:
41, 400 meters
First stop over to Dolores, Quezon:
74, 900 meters
Dolores Quezon to Second stop over on the way home:
74, 000 meters
Second stop over to Marist School:
43, 700 meters
The next thing we are instructed to do is to count the number of steps of the stairs descending to the river.
Having the difficulty to walk and count, the outbound educators said to us that the steps from above is 269.
When I myself took the challenge to count the steps, the result of mine was only 247 steps which was almost near to the real number of steps.
The last part of our project is also about measuring. Now we are to measure the time that took us to get out of the husgado cave. Based on our record, the time we spent upon entrance until exit of the cave was about 28-35 minutes.

BANAHAW: Ang Makasaysayang Bundok
